Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) is a general antibiotic. It is used against a wide variety of bacterial infections. It works by slowing the growth of bacteria in the body. This medicine is not effective treating infections caused by viruses. 
Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) is commonly used in treatment of Rocky Mountain spotted fever, fevers from ticks, typhus, rickettesial pox and Q fever as well as to treat many different bacterial infections, such as urinary tract infections, acne, gonorrhea, and chlamydia, periodontitis (gum disease), and others.
It is also used to treat uncomplicated rectal infections cervical infections and urethral infections and other sexually transmitted infections like non-gonococcal urethritis, Granuloma infections.

Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) is a member of the tetracycline antibiotics group. It reduces the drug resistance in the bacteria and is strongly recommended to be used only in case of susceptible bacterial infections. It is frequently used to treat Chronic Prostatitis, Sinusitis, Syphilis, Chlamydia, pelvic inflammatory disease, Acne, Rosacea, and Rickettsial infections. The drug is also known to be effective against respiratory tract infections and specific infections like Plague, Cholera, relapsing fever, Bartenollosis, etc. It reduces the drug resistance in the bacteria and is strongly recommended to be used only in case of susceptible bacterial infections.
It may also be used to prevent or slow the progression of anthrax after exposure.

How does Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) work?


Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis at 30S and 50S ribosomal subunits. It effectively alters the Cytoplasmic membrane of susceptible organisms thereby making them ineffective and stopping their multiplication in the body.

What are the common dosages of Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate)?


For adults infected with unusual organisms like Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, and Rickettsia organisms and weight more than 45kgs, the recommended dosage is 100 mg P.O. q 12 hours on first day, followed by 100 to 200 mg P.O. once daily.
For Children under 45 kg or 99lbs the recommended  dosage is 2.2 mg/kg P.O. q 12 hours on first day, followed by 2.2 to 4.4 mg/kg/day P.O. once daily.
For Gonorrhoea in patients allergic to penicillin, the recommended dosage is 00 mg P.O. q 12 hours for 7 days.
The recommended dosage for Lime Disease, Periodontitis, Anthrax, Malarial Infections depends upon the age and weight of the patient and their respective allergic reactions.

Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) may also be taken for the prevention of Malaria on foreign trips of less than a 4 month duration.

Should Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) be used during pregnancy?


Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) should not be used during pregnancy. Tetracycline can damage developing teeth during the last half of pregnancy. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, inform your doctor immediately. Tetracyclines such as Doxycycline appear in breast milk and can affect a nursing infant. If this medication is essential to your health, your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding until your treatment is finished.

Yes, Generic Vibramycin (Doxycycline Hyclate) should be continued for 4 weeks after returning from the exposed area.
