How to use
Use Generic Zovirax Ointment (Acyclovir) as directed by your doctor. Wash and completely dry your hands and the affected area. Apply the medicine only to the affected area and not to the surrounding skin. Gently rub the medicine in until it disappears. Wash your hands after using Generic Zovirax Ointment (Acyclovir). Do not bandage or wrap the area unless directed to do so by your doctor. Do not bathe, shower, or swim right after using Generic Zovirax Ointment (Acyclovir). To clear up your infection completely, use Generic Zovirax Ointment (Acyclovir) for the full course of treatment. Keep using it even if you feel better in a few days. For best results, use Generic Zovirax Ointment (Acyclovir) at the first sign of a cold sore (tingling, redness, itching, or bump). Generic Zovirax Ointment (Acyclovir) should not be used in or near the eyes or inside the nose or mouth. However, it can be applied on the outside of the lips. To reduce the risk of spreading the infection, use a rubber glove to apply the ointment.
Overdose In case of an overdose, contact your local poison control center. If the patient has collapsed or stopped breathing, contact your emergency authorities.
Missed dose
If you miss a dose of Generic Zovirax Ointment (Acyclovir), use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once. Notes Do not share this medication with others, since they may have a problem that is not effectively treated by this drug. Avoid sexual activity while signs and symptoms of genital herpes are present to prevent infecting your partner. Inform your doctor if this medication does not appear to decrease the frequency or severity of recurrent infections
Storage
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C ) and keep away from light and moisture. KEEP THIS AND ALL MEDICATIONS OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
